The i centre's story

The i centre provides affordable spaces for rent and hire to small businesses, health activities, education, community groups and startup businesses. 

Ingleton Middle School officially closed on August 31, 2012. The closure was part of a reorganization by North Yorkshire County Council to move from a three-tier to a two-tier education system, resulting in the school’s merger with Settle College.

A National Lottery grant of £45k allowed the volunteer run Ingleton Middle Community Interest Company to take a lease on the premises from North Yorkshire Council and establish the i centre for the benefit of the local community.

The first tenants to arrive and use the building for business was in April 2013; Season’s Cakes, Adam Zahler, One Fine Day, Peak Strength and Fitness and Red Hot Pixel. Now the i centre is continuing to thrive with 18 businesses and 7 weekly sessional group with affordable spaces available to rent and hire. 

The i centre is looking forward to the future and continuing to make the building fit for purpose, sustainable and a valuable asset for the locality.
